Electric Locomotive Battery

Microtex Electric Locomotive Battery, EMU Battery

Electric Locomotives in India require an electric locomotive battery to provide startup current. It supplies power to the baby compressor that drives the pantograph (an apparatus mounted on the roof of the electric locomotive to collect power through contact with the overhead line. Typically a single or double wire is used, with the return current running through the rails). The electric locomotive battery also provides power to the onboard electronics & essential circuits including emergency lighting when the overhead supply fails.

The ac electric locomotive battery is designed to meet the tough environments inside the electric locomotive. It should be designed to withstand the vibrations & heat in the battery box of the locomotive. The electric locomotive uses a 110v 70Ah battery bank & Electric Multiple Units used by commuters in suburban trains, require 110v 90Ah battery bank systems.
This is where Microtex batteries have proven itself over the years, as the preferred choice of the Indian Railways for Electric locomotives in India & EMU. Microtex electric locomotive battery is approved by RDSO, Ministry of Railways, Government of India.

Our electric locomotive battery is designed for reliable performance. Microtex battery with deep-cycle performance. Ensures quick recovery from deep discharges. Designed to withstand extreme temperatures. Manufactured with special Lead tin antimonial alloys, they are low maintenance tubular battery. Trusted by the Indian Railways our electric locomotive battery is the preferred choice of Indian Railways.

With a Microtex electric locomotive battery, you get:

  • Excellent reserve capacity, for trouble-free performance
  • Tubular battery for rugged applications
  • Deep cycle performance
  • Faster charge acceptance with nano-carbons!
  • High power efficiency – recovers from PSoC quickly

Microtex is supplying batteries to the Indian Railways since 1994

Microtex have been supplying Batteries to the Indian Railways since 1994 & is a highly respected product

Long Service Life

  • Long service life
  • Higher capacity
  • Latest technology with balanced active materials
  • Proven performance from 1994, with the lowest FRPCPY

Superior coach battery

  • Designer lead alloys with low antimony for positive plates & negative plates to prevent failures due to corrosion
  • Low antimony reduces the need to top up more frequently
  • Correctly balanced active materials ensure enhanced energy densities that provide long life & trouble-free performance150 bar high-pressure die-cast spine grids for tubular positive plates (densely compacted under such high pressures prevent early corrosion failures)
  • Tubular plates – not flat plates!
  • Superior WOVEN tubular gauntlets (not NONWovens) for tubular plates
  • Woven tubular gauntlets will not rupture in service and  active material will not leak causing internal shorts & failure
  • Sturdy PPCP (polypropylene copolymer) for durability

3 key parameters that make Microtex Electric locomotive Battery No 1

Microtex railway EMU & Electric locomotive battery offers 3 of the most important requirements for the railways:

Reliability – Microtex Electric locomotive battery caters to the important function in the electric locomotive requirements:– dependability. They supply power from an offline state to connect to the overhead grid by powering the compressor to activate the pantograph. Each time – every time it is required.

Ease of installation – Microtex electric locomotive battery is designed with simplicity & ease of use. User end railway satisfaction is the prime key to its product success. The Microtex battery is designed in such a way that is meant to be easy to handle & install

Operation – Microtex electric locomotive battery is designed with enough capacity over its lifetime. This ensures operational requirements over trouble-free years of use. Designer lead alloys coupled with a tough tubular grid design ensures that the battery perform extremely well in the demanding all electric locomotive battery application.
